University Gastroenterology Welcomes Elizabeth Decker, DO to Expanding Practice

University Gastroenterology (UGI) announced that Elizabeth Decker, DO has joined the practice. Dr. Decker is fellowship-trained in gastroenterology and board-certified in internal medicine. In joining UGI, Dr. Decker will contribute to the group’s mission to provide cutting-edge care to their community of patients.

Dr. Decker received her undergraduate degree from the University of Rhode Island, before earning her medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2011. She trained in Internal Medicine at St. Petersburg General Hospital and Sacred Heart Hospital in Florida, then returned to Rhode Island to pursue her specialty training in Gastroenterology at Kent Hospital. "Coming back to Rhode Island has always been a long-term goal for me.  I still have a lot of extended family and friends here, so it was important to have the support system in place. I feel that University Gastroenterology adopts the same philosophy. They are invested professionally as well as personally in ensuring that there is a supportive working environment,” said Decker.

President of University Gastroenterology, Dr. Eric Berthiaume stated: “We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Decker to the UGI family. We have worked closely with her through her fellowship where she has proven to be an excellent physician and will be a valuable member of our group.”

Dr. Decker’s employment with UGI will become effective January 7, 2019. The East Greenwich office will be her primary location where she is currently accepting new patients. Dr. Decker will be on staff at Kent Hospital in Warwick where she will continue to be involved in the Kent Gastroenterology Fellowship as a teaching attending. Dr. Decker is a native of Rhode Island and currently resides in Exeter, RI with her husband and their two sons.
